A Letter from the Chamber of Commerce

Welcome to New Reno

Greetings visitor to New Reno; the biggest little colony in the world. Tired of the endless barren wastelands of our post apocalyptic world, then come on in to New Reno. This thriving city is a gem nestled in between the atomic wastes of the west and the east. Rescued from shambles and ascended from the ashes of the old world, this city is rich in opportunity. So if you're here for business or pleasure, New Reno has something for you.

City Rules

It's important to familiarize yourself with the rules for New Reno.

NO Killing, NO Stealing, and NO Raping.

That's pretty much it. If you can follow these rules then you can enjoy the benefits of our civilized colony.

When you first arrive to New Reno, you must first go to Univer City to be processed. Basically you will explain what you are here for, how long you plan to stay, and what assets you have. After that you will store any weapons in a storage locker.

"Your stuff will be safe in our safes."
Christopher Paine, The Palisades casino boss

Note: Certain permits are required for prostitutes. Also, it is FORBIDDEN to sell alcohol inside the city walls. Only the casinos are allowed to sell alcohol in New Reno.

Currency

The currency in New Reno is casino chips. The number of chips you get is based on the number of and caliber of your ammunition. Take your bullets to any casino change cage and exchange them for casino chips. Don't worry about changing out your chips if you wish to go to another casino. All the casinos offer a straight exchange for other casino chips.
If you plan to leave New Reno and the area, please cash out your chips. If you have a lot of chips however, please don't cash out at only one casino.

Food and Shelter

All the casinos have rooms to rent and diners to eat in. The city also has places to get a bite to eat if your not near one of the casinos. If you can afford it, buy a house here and settle down. Start a family and do your part to repopulate the earth.

Work

For work, there are many great jobs to look into. For the brave, how about being a casino guard. Room and board are the benefits for this job. Guards protect their hiring casino's property. That might be the casino itself. It could be areas inside the great wall or it could be property outside the great wall like the farm lands.
All the casinos work together to keep the peace and protect against any outside threat. It's important to know that only guards are allowed to carry guns. You must check your weapons into a storage locker when you first arrive.

If protecting the city isn't in your wheelhouse then try working inside the casinos. The casinos need people to staff various positions like card dealers, waiters and cooks in the diners, prostitutes, and any other odd job type of position.
Note: Bartending is not for the average person straight from the wastes. Only qualified mixologists, vintners, and brewmeisters need apply. In New Reno, bartenders have almost the same level of prestige as the casino bosses who hire them.
Also important to note that the pit bosses, who work for the casino bosses, share the same degree of prestige as bartenders.

Work your back why don't ya. If you made your way to New Reno from the south, then chances are you passed all the farm lands. The lower valleys are farms that are owned by the casino bosses. Tilling the fields might not be glamorous, but it is important and greatly appreciated.

Beautification and maintenance. New Reno is a gem and as a gem should sparkle. Trash is a constant problem and needs someone to remove it. Why not you? Trashmen drink free at all the casinos.
Our city has running water and power. That is only possible because the pumps flow at the Water Works over at Lake Reno. If you have a mechanical inclination, find your way down to the lake.

Trade caravaners are always needed to take supplies down to the Carson Valley and bring back harvested crops. You also get the honor of driving the cattle to slaughter.
Note: Maybe butcher is your calling. Maybe?

Finally, be your own man. Set up a trade booth at the Merchant Market. If you have sacks full of “goods” then try selling them. The market fee is fair at only 40% of the chips you earn.

“New Reno has many options, so get to work.”
Angela Romanovski, The Oasis casino boss

Entertainment

After a long day of work, it is your duty to enjoy your night. The casinos always have shows during the night hours. You will find a range of different shows across the nine casinos. Some have comedians, others have singer and dancers, others have plays, and most of them will have a skin show.

“Have a drink and enjoy a whore or five.”
Boston Jones, The Big Top casino boss

There, that will get you started for now. New Reno has a lot to offer and as you spend more time here, you will get to know all the fun little things that make her so great. So come on in and play a while.
